Lalu travels to Gopalganj in Bihar to see his ancestral home

On Tuesday, Lalu Prasad, the RJD president and former chief minister of Bihar, traveled to his home hamlet of Phulwaria in the Gopalganj district. Prasad decorated the statue of his mother Marachhiya Devi at Marachhiya Chowk with the help of his wife, the former chief minister Rabri Devi.

The RJD chairman made his first trip to his native hometown after a kidney transplant. According to a party leader, they would also go to the well-known Durga temple in the Thawe district throughout the day.

On Monday, both traveled to Gopalganj, which is located around 100 kilometers from Patna, the state capital. Prasad had previously told reporters in Gopalganj that he would remain in his home town until Tuesday, when he plans to visit a nearby temple to make a prayer offering after a life-saving operation last year.

“I’ll hope for victory in the Lok Sabha elections as well. However, I must admit that I don’t seek success for myself, but rather for the citizens of my nation,” Prasad had stated. The RJD leader, however, insisted that the BJP will lose its hold on power at the Centre in the next Lok Sabha elections and dodged questions about who would lead the opposition alliance INDIA, of which his party is a member, to oppose Prime Minister Modi.
