News On The Stock Market: Sensex Opens Lower, Down 200 PTS; Nifty Above 22,400

At 74,024.45, the BSE Sensex began flat with a positive bias, up 9.90 points, or 0.01 percent. At 22,458.80, the Nifty50 index also began the day lower than it ended—a decrease of 3.20 points, or 0.01 percent.

The biggest losses include Sun Pharma (-0.66%), ICICI Bank (-0.88%), Bajaj Finance (-0.64%), JSW Steel (-0.90%), and Wipro (-0.90%).

Top Sensex Gainers

The top gainers on the S&P BSE Sensex were Bharti Airtel (+0.34%), Titan (+0.37%), Nestle (+0.41%), Tata Motors (+0.67%), and NTPC (+0.88%).

Pre-open Market

Pre-opening saw Sensex trade up by 9.90 points, or 0.01 percent, to 74,024.45, in positive territory. The Nifty50 index fell by 3.20 points, or 0.01 percent, to trade flat with a negative bias at 22,458.80.

The stock market on April 1st

The 30-share BSE Sensex increased 363.20 points, or 0.49 percent, to close at 74,014.55 on April 1, the third day in a row. It had also reached its record intra-day high of 74,254.62, touching 603.27 points, or 0.81 percent.

During the session, the 50-scrip index increased by 203.1 points, or 0.9%, to reach an all-time high of 22,530.
