Prices of Crude Oil

Oil prices fell by more than 2% on Friday as worries over supply caused by tensions in the Middle East subsided and anticipation that the US Federal Reserve would stop raising interest rates in the largest oil-consuming nation increased due to employment statistics.

Futures for Brent oil dropped $1.92, or 2.3%, to $84.89 a barrel. At $80.51 a barrel, U.S. West Texas Intermediate oil futures dropped $1.95, or 2.4%.

Over 6% was dropped by both benchmarks at the end of the week.

Why do gas prices differ across states?

Every day at six in the morning, the rates are released, whether they are new or not. However, they differ from one state to the next because of factors like local taxes, freight costs, value added tax (VAT), etc.
