Uncovering the Renault Kardian SUV, we examine its exterior, interior, and powertrain

After a few teases, Renault has finally shown its new Kardian Sport Utility Vehicle.

It is expected that the Kardian would be launched in Brazil as the initial market. The SUV seems to be positioned higher than the Kiger that is sold in India. Renault intends to build the Kardian first in Brazil and then in Morocco.

The 4.12-meter-long Kardian is constructed on the cutting-edge Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform. According to previous statements from Renault, up to eight cars built on this platform would be sold abroad, with an emphasis on developing nations.

The exterior and interior design of the Renault Kardian SUV

With its split headlamps, sturdy front and rear bumpers, and massive, recognizable double-layer Renault grille, the Kardian has a unique look. The Kardian’s simulated aluminum highlights are just the perfect amount to give it a rugged SUV look. The substantial covering on the wheel arches and running boards gives it a more coupe-like bodyshell and increased ground clearance.

Like the Kiger, the taillamps feature a C-shaped design at the rear. Beautiful alloy wheels, roof rails, a shark-fin antenna, and chrome highlights are features of the higher-end variants.

Reminiscent of previous Renault SUV designs, its interior has an exquisite dashboard with a driving mode selector, an 8-inch touchscreen entertainment system, and a four-spoke steering wheel. Depending on the model, the inside will have faux brushed metal and piano black wood inlays. Higher-end variants will have 17-inch alloy wheels.

KARDIAN SUV FOR RENT: ENGINE

The Kardian SUV’s powertrain consists of a brand-new 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine. With a six-speed DCT automatic transmission, it generates 220 Nm of torque and 125 horsepower. A 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine with an automatic CVT gearbox and 100 horsepower and 160 Nm of torque is also included in the Kiger.

Below the Kiger is the second-generation Duster. The next Duster, which is also in development, is expected to be built on the same CMF platform and at the same Brazilian factory as the Kardian. According to reports, the third-generation Duster will make its global debut on November 29.

It is quite unlikely that India will see the release of the updated Kardian. Nevertheless, a variety of vehicles, some of which will be manufactured in India for both domestic and foreign markets, will be built using the CMF platform, upon which the Kardian is based.
