Interview with Akansha Ranjan Kapoor: All of my friends are aiming to get a south movie since they’re doing so well

Even though Akanksha Ranjan Kapoor has only starred in a few movies, she is eager to explore new areas and meet new difficulties. “2024 has proven to be an incredibly positive year thus far,” she remarks in an interview with Hindustan Times. “So far, I’ve been able to manage my job, friends, family, and everything else. I feel so happy and at ease with it. She settles down for a conversation about her big south premiere with Maaya One, which is now filming in Hyderabad, saying, “I like it when it’s like this.” With exception.

“Nothing has changed, even though everything has.”
Akansha talks about her career before discussing her most recent work. She started out in the 2020 Netflix India film Guilty and went on to feature in the web series Ray in 2021 and the Netflix India film Monica, O My Darling in 2022. Not only is this her first appearance on the silver screen, but it’s also her first down south in CV Kumar’s Maaya One, the follow-up to his 2017 movie Maayavan.

When you ask her whether anything has changed in the previous three years, she responds, “In a way, nothing has.” My hard work, ambitions, hopes, and objectives, along with my pals, have not changed. Thus, in that regard, nothing has changed. However, my career has seen some very significant turning points, so naturally, everything has altered. I’m at last experiencing the life I’ve always wanted. The fact that I’m making my big-screen debut helps, too.

“Maaya One is intriguing and slick.”
Speaking of debuts, Sundeep Kishan will play crime inspector Kumaran again in her forthcoming flick Maaya One. It begs the question of where the sequel fits into the chronology, because Maayavan’s precursor ended with a 40-year time leap. “I can’t reveal much now, but all I can say is that the film will be cool, slick, and interesting,” is Akansha’s immediate response when you ask her about it. The genre is sci-fi action thriller.

She adds that she saw Maayavan before accepting this job and felt it was “ahead of its time.” She said, “I was intrigued by the sequel’s setup and the way it advances the plot. It’s also a great time to make a south movie.” My friends are doing so well and receiving such positive reviews that they all want to land a movie down south. When I received the offer, I seized the moment; it was an obvious choice.

“Sundeep assisted me in shedding my inner Bombay girl.”
When you inquire about Sundeep, Akansha describes him as a “phenomenal actor.” “When I first arrived on sets, I was overly excited and had hyperventilation, but Sundeep helped me relax,” the actress claims. I realized that I couldn’t portray this role in the same way as everyone else. He so imparted to me the subtleties of what constitutes successful acting in the South. He assisted me in shedding my inner Bombay girl. And I think the performance will be improved as a result.

Even though she hasn’t dubbing for herself yet, she claims that she also attended Telugu studies to prepare for the part. She chuckles, “I got Telugu classes as soon I signed this project, so more than finding it challenging, I’m finding it fun to mug up my lines. I’m a bit of a tota (parrot).” I now also use the phrase when I talk with my staff. I want to become so proficient in it that by the second or third Telugu movie, I can dub on my own.

Does it imply that Akansha has further Telugu ventures planned? She ends, “Hopefully by the end of the year, I’ll have more films to announce; they’re not getting rid of me anytime soon.”
