Lady Gaga’s Joker 2 and Joaquin Phoenix’s Folie a Deux to Feature At Least 15 Cover Songs

In the highly anticipated movie Joker: Folie a Deux, Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix have joined together to offer a musical twist to the big screen. Fans are excited about the choice to make the film into a musical. Recent information on the same indicates that the film’s impending format would largely resemble a jukebox musical. Variety claims that Gaga and Phoenix will sing on at least fifteen songs, including beloved tunes like That’s Entertainment from Judy Garland’s renowned musical The Band Wagon.

Insiders also suggest that Lady Gaga will write and perform two original songs, which have the potential to be great contenders for the 2025 Academy Awards. It’s interesting to note that composer Hildur Guonadottir is making a comeback and vows to stretch the bounds of the genre.

Hildur, the Grammy and Oscar-winning composer, is reportedly going to “infuse her unique, haunting [music] cues” into the film, while specifics on the authors and singers for the songs are yet unknown. Todd Phillips, the director of the next DC movie, is renowned for his audacious and unorthodox filmmaking approach. He was inspired by popular jukebox musicals like Mamma Mia and Moulin Rouge, which garnered eight Oscar nominations.

The prequel film’s $60 million budget paled in comparison to Joker: Folie a Deux’s approximately $200 million budget, which has garnered significant attention. At the Venice International Film Festival, the original movie took home a Golden Lion and made over $1 billion at the box office worldwide. With 11 Oscar nominations, the film even took the lead at the Academy Awards. Given the favorable reception the film had at the Venice Film Festival, the producers are now hoping to work the same magic with Joker 2 at the festival this year.

Joker: Folie a Deux’s story is yet unknown, however, it is known that most of the movie will take place at the notorious Arkham Asylum. Dr. Harleen Quinzel, also known as Harley Quinn, and Arthur Fleck’s love tale are supposed to be the main emphasis of the narrative. The DC film stars Lady Gaga, Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, Catherine Keener, and Brendan Gleeson, in addition to them. On October 4, Joker 2 will be released in theaters.
