Namita Thapar of Shark Tank India Discusses Her Battle With Perimenopause

Women’s health is not a topic that is often discussed in public, and celebrities seldom ever discuss it on social media. However, in a recent Shark Tank India episode, Namita Thapar, executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, spoke about her own experience with perimenopause. Speaking about a horrible point in her life, she said that she was unable to stay still for extended periods of time because she was bleeding so heavily.

Namita Thapar said that while she was fortunate to have trouble-free periods, everything changed as she entered the perimenopause. She said that while most people believe that the issue mostly affects young women and teens, she had excessive monthly bleeding throughout her perimenopause. Even as she was shooting for Shark Tank, the problems persisted. What is perimenopause, wondered one of the coworkers on the program Anupam? Continuing, Namita described the phenomenon, stating that it occurs a few years “before menopause begins and your periods absolutely stop in menopause.”

Namita remembered, emphasizing the difficulties and struggles she had to endure, “We have an injectable that we take through IV, ferric carboxymaltose, and I became so anaemic that my haemoglobin went to 8.” For five months, I had to take the shot. The procedure takes 45 minutes. I’m sitting here today just like that. There may be quite significant problems with women’s productivity. She expressed her gratitude to the Matri creators for presenting their concept on a platform that addresses women’s difficulties and for producing an electronic gadget that relieves menstrual discomfort.

In addition, Namita posted a video on her Instagram account in which she discussed perimenopause and listed the additional symptoms that may occur. “Perimenopause usually starts in your mid-40s,” the woman said. Among many other symptoms, you get hot flashes, sleeplessness, and mood changes. The majority of women are unaware of the signs and available treatments, and it may be a very trying and upsetting time in their lives.

The fact that these topics were being discussed honestly on social media pleased internet users. “Oh my god, you just said this on national TV; hats off to you, we need more women like you,” one user wrote in praise of Namita for striking up the conversation. “Thanks, Mam for saying and having a conversation openly, especially for teaching a new thing,” another user wrote in appreciation of Namita.
