Raghu Ram claims, “Not one day have I regretted walking away,” and reveals how his marital and mental health deteriorated as a result of Roadies

“MTV Roadies” has been a very successful reality program on Indian television since the early 2000s. The program has lost some of its attractiveness in recent years, although it still has a loyal fan following. Raghu Ram, an executive producer and former judge of “Roadies,” served as a judge on the MTV program for a very long period. He recently discussed the reason for his departure from the reality program.

Raghu also spoke about the effects the program had on his marital and psychological well-being. He said that after he and his brother Rajiv Lakshman quit the program, MTV Roadies “jumped the shark.”.
“Personally, my life was going through a lot of upheaval because of Roadies and because of the surrounding craze,” Raghu stated in an interview with India Today. My union was having trouble. In the end, I was divorced. Everything about my health—physical, emotional, and otherwise—was out of control. I have to step back from this. I’m pleased I stopped, so that’s good. I have never regretted leaving on a single day.”
At a time when the program was quite successful, Raghu said he was “done, fed up” with it and left. He continued by saying he didn’t agree with MTV’s intention to create the program in a certain manner. He added that the channel was seeking a “certain populist kind of angle to it.”.
Raghu said, “No, not going to happen,” when asked whether he would be returning to the program. It was requested of us, but I’m not interested. It has been a while since I last saw Roadies. These days, it’s not ‘that’ roadies. The program that goes by the moniker Roadies is quite different from this one. The structure is more akin to the voice than the earlier Roadies. That show ended when Rajiv and I left that day. That specific format was no longer in use.”
On August 15, 2003, the youth-focused reality series “Roadies” debuted. The program was broadcast on MTV India. Due to their dual roles as producers and judges, Raghu and Rajiv were essential to the program. They eventually moved on in 2014. Sonu Sood, Bani J, Rannvijay, and Cyrus Sahukar served as the show’s hosts.
