Ranjeet discloses that he was approached to play Gabbar in Sholay, but he turned it down for this reason

The famous actor Amjad Khan’s line from Sholay, “Kitne aadmi the?” is still remembered by many. In the film directed by Ramesh Sippy, he portrayed Gabbar Singh, giving Hindi cinema its most recognisable villain. He wasn’t, however, the first candidate for the position.

The filmmakers also invited actors Danny Denzongpa and Ranjeet to play Gabbar in the film “Sholay,” which featured Dharmendra and veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan as the lead characters. Ranjeet recently went down memory lane in an interview with ANI, sharing that he turned down “Sholay” in order to maintain his connection with Danny.

“They (the producers) informed me that Danny would not be arriving at this time when they arrived. To be honest, I was also unaware of the job. I told them up front, “Danny is a good friend of mine.”Get me a letter from him saying he has no objections, or at the very least, allow him to speak with me. I’ll do the movie if he says yes. However, I declined to appear in the movie since I understood why he was not coming,” Ranjeet reminisced.

“Amjad Khan was intended for this role.Ranjeet joked, “Ho sakta hai main Gabbar karta toh shayd audience ko nahin acha lagta.”

To date, Ranjeet and Danny have had a wonderful relationship. He often posts videos and images of him on social media. Ranjeet was heard giving advice to his children and the next generation in a video that he uploaded on his Instagram page in 2022.

The video seems to be from a get-together and shows Akbar Khan, Danny, and Ranjeet at their most genuine. What did Ranjeet want to tell the new kids? Danny questioned. “I’m your friend,” Ranjeet retorted. You are aware of your life and your goals for it. You’ve been raised with the ability to make your own choices.

As a result, Danny and Akbar started making fun of Ranjeet for her wisdom.

Back then, Ranjeet and Danny’s nasty performances dominated the big screen.
