Rashmeet Kaur and Munawar Faruqui’s song “Pyar Ki Bahaar” Unleashes Desi Swag

With “Pyar Ki Bahaar,” singer Rashmeet Kaur—who is well-known for songs like “Dil Hai Ranjhana” from “Tejas” and “Ghana Kasoota”—has unleashed a new wave of Punjabi pop. Munawar Faruqui, a comedian, collaborated with Kaur on the song, lending his rapping skills to add a dash of desi swag.

Rashmeet’s own singing is quite elegant and a fantastic example of current Punjabi music, which is unabashedly rooted and very much colorful. She has a rustic voice with a glamorous touch.

Contrary to its name, “Pyar Ki Bahaar” doesn’t seem at all like a love song, but rather has a forceful melody and a vibrant tone with a strong rhythm.

It seems more like a pure party song that is fun to dance to than it is a love celebration. And it achieves that rather well.

Munawar raps in a way that is comparable to Rashmika’s vocals, going full freestyle and sounding a lot like Raftaar.

However, he purposefully slows down here since her singing is more colorful; their very contrasting vocal styles work well together.
