Speaking candidly about the “Heeramandi” sets’ no-phones rule, Richa Chadha declares, “I would have shot everything.”

In Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” actress Richa Chadha, who portrays Lajjo, has said that the director enforced a no-phone policy on the set, which all crew members were expected to follow. Along with Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Kpirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Fardeen Khan, and Shekhar Suman, this is SLB’s first online series.

Richa said in an interview with the Hindustan Times that talks regarding the role they would play were still going on when they first reached the set. It took a long time to put the set together, she said.

The actress remembered being in awe of the set’s magnificence, stating that they thought it was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s biggest set. It was huge, taking up a good chunk of Film City. The set was organized with discrete sections for various uses; each character had their own bathroom, kitchen, and sleeping quarters.

Richa went on to say that there was a hammam with balconies, a choubara, an angaan, and fountains in someone else’s bedroom. There was also a ballroom, a cafĂ©, and a performance space. Even at the shooting area’s entrance was a dargah. She acknowledged that the set was a “no-phone” zone and said it was breathtakingly detailed; if it hadn’t been, she would have just gone through and filmed everything.
‘Heeramandi’ is scheduled to launch on streaming services on May 1.
