‘That’s the only way I know..’ is Taapsee Pannu’s explanation for choosing to wear a crimson salwar kameez against a lehenga for her wedding

Taapsee Pannu, who had been dating Mathias Boe for over ten years, sealed the knot in a small-scale wedding. Taapsee hasn’t yet posted any pictures from the secret wedding on social media. However, a few images and videos gained widespread popularity online. During the Varmala event, one saw Taapsee’s arrival, dancing on the well-known genuine ‘tappe’, ‘Kothe Te Aa Mahiya,’ owned by Jagjit Singh and Chitra Singh.

The actress wore a salwar kameez to her wedding rather of a lehenga, which caught people’ attention and left them curious. Finally, in an interview with Hindustan Times, she disclosed it. Taapsee said that since she grew up seeing Sikh and Gurudwara weddings, the traditional conception of marriage for her was always dressing in a traditional red salwar kameez and a dupatta with a ‘kinari’ border. “That’s the only way I know a bride looks like a bride, and it didn’t feel like a real wedding vibe to me to imagine myself dressing up in pastel hued lehengas,” Taapsee said.

She continued by saying that it would have been difficult to keep it secret at the time if she had chosen a major designer. She thus requested a buddy from college to create every piece of her wedding dress. “I wanted to keep it very private because there’s a very high chance of the news getting out when you have a big name on board,” Taapsee said. All of my clothes were created by my college buddy Mani Bhatia, just way I wanted them. I wanted to dance a lot at every event, therefore I didn’t wear a lehenga the whole wedding.”

Seldom did Taapsee and Mathias’ Udaipur wedding include many celebrities. Few people went, including writer-producer Kanika Dhillon and co-star Pavail Gulati, who are close friends of Taapsee.
