Construction of the terminal has begun. Dubai to Get the “World’s Largest” Airport With 400 Gates and 5 Parallel Runways

A major project to construct what could end up being the world’s biggest airport terminal has been started by Dubai. This proposal was unveiled on Sunday by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, who emphasised how the terminal, which will be built at Al Maktoum International Airport, would change the infrastructure for air travel.

The enormous project would cost around USD 35 billion (about Rs 2.9 lakh crore). The new terminal is expected to be able to accommodate up to 260 million people a year once it is finished.

“We are starting construction of the building for AED 128 billion ($34.85 billion),” said Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the prime minister of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai, on X. “We approved the designs for the new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport.”

The proposed terminal would have 400 airplane gates and five parallel runways, among many other amazing features. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized its importance, noting that it would be five times larger than the existing Dubai International Airport.

The project’s schedule was presented by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the CEO of Emirates and head of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority. He said that the first phase of the project is anticipated to be completed in ten years. For Emirates, Flydubai, and other airline partners, the airport will act as their main hub, enabling smooth international travel via Dubai.

With the progressive transfer of activities from the current Dubai International Airport to the new facility, Dubai’s aviation scene is expected to experience a dramatic transformation. Al Maktoum International Airport is situated outside of the city with the intention of reducing traffic and meeting the growing air travel needs of the surrounding area.

The creation of a whole metropolis around the airport in Dubai South is part of the concept, which goes beyond the infrastructure of aviation. An estimated one million people will be able to find homes thanks to this comprehensive plan, which is expected to boost economic development.
