Israel targets underground shafts and missile launchers used by Hamas

According to the Israel Defense Forces, Israeli fighter planes attacked Hamas terror infrastructure in northern and central Gaza, as well as operational underground shafts and an anti-tank missile launch point. The strikes occurred on Tuesday morning. According to the IDF, one of the locations targeted was the spot where a missile launched on Monday that was meant for Sderot was shot. The aerial defenses intercepted the missile.

Fighter planes attacked terror infrastructure, an anti-tank missile launch point, and functioning subterranean shafts in the northern Gaza region shortly after the launch was detected. Fighter planes have also attacked many Hamas targets in central Gaza over the course of the last day, including a terrorist squad and a weapons storage site, in the vicinity of where Israeli ground forces are stationed.

On Monday, Israeli troops in the center of Gaza were again targeted by rocket fire. There were no reported injuries. At the site where the launches were launched, troops discovered a large number of terrorists; fighter planes then killed the militants.

Why are leaders in Israel concerned about the ICC?

Over six months into the Israel-Hamas conflict, Israeli authorities are becoming more and more worried that the International Criminal Court may issue arrest warrants for the nation’s leaders.

What is the International Criminal Court (ICC)?

To address the issue of war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, and other serious crimes going unpunished by governments, the International Criminal Court (ICC) was established over ten years ago. The ICC depends on member nations to apprehend suspects in the absence of a police force. On Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that his country “will never accept any attempt by the ICC to undermine its inherent right of self-defence” on the social media site X. He added, “The ICC would set a dangerous precedent, even though it will not affect Israel’s actions.” The court remains silent.

The Rome Statute

The Rome Statute, a 2002 agreement, was ratified by all 124 members of the ICC. Numerous nations declined to join and refused to acknowledge the court’s authority for crimes such as genocide and war crimes. China, Russia, the US, and Israel are among them. When countries refuse to pursue crimes committed on their soil, the ICC steps in.

Highest UN tribunal to decide on assistance to Israel

The UN Supreme Court will make a decision on Tuesday over Nicaragua’s plea for judges to force Germany to stop providing military help to Israel. Berlin has claimed that Berlin’s backing encourages genocide and violates international humanitarian law in Gaza. The most recent legal attempt to halt Israel’s war is being made by Nicaragua, a nation with longstanding relations to the Palestinian people.
