Middle East can become a “ticking time bomb,” according to President Sisi of Egypt

Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the president of Egypt, issued a warning on Saturday against any escalation of the violence in Gaza, stating that the area ran the danger of turning into a “ticking time bomb”.

In addition, he said that after the Friday interception of drones that had entered Egyptian airspace, his nation’s sovereignty need to be upheld.

Israel said on Friday that the Houthi movement in Yemen, which is supported by Iran, was the intended target of the drones. According to Egypt’s military, the drones that injured six people when they crashed into the Egyptian cities of Taba and Nuweiba close to the Israeli border came from the southern Red Sea. Who fired the drones was not mentioned.

“I have warned of the conflict’s potential to escalate, regardless of its source. Speaking at a conference, Sisi predicted that the area would soon become a ticking time bomb that would affect everyone.

“Egypt is a sovereign country and its sovereignty and position should be respected … Egypt is a strong country and it is untouchable,” he said.

Sisi called for the release of captives, a truce in the Israel-Hamas war, and the admission of supplies into Gaza at a peace conference last Saturday.
