President of Brazil dismisses Intel Agency No. 2 due to suspected espionage

NEW DELHI: In reaction to an ongoing investigation into suspected unlawful espionage committed under Jair Bolsonaro’s administration, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has taken action.

President Lula da Silva has ordered the deputy director of Brazil’s national intelligence agency to be fired, according to an official bulletin, as reported by AFP.

Under Bolsonaro’s far-right administration, the nation’s federal police are presently investigating allegations of unlawful and politically motivated espionage that took place between 2019 and 2022. Bolsonaro’s son is directly the subject of the probe.
