Russia calls the proposed EU grain tax a “unfair” trading practice

According to Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the plan by the European Union to raise taxes on grain imports from Belarus and Russia is an example of unfair trade practices.

According to Xinhua news agency, the European Commission proposed early on Friday to increase duties on cereals, oilseeds, and items originated from Russia and Belarus.

“There is no doubt that the European consumer will suffer,” Peskov said, pointing out that Moscow has several other supply lines.

Peskov referred to the plan as “another clear example of unfair competition” and said that specialists would need to research how it would be feasible to make up for any prospective restrictive measures.
