Second strike in three days and a new drone attack on a Moscow building; Russia blames Ukraine

On Tuesday, a high-rise structure in Moscow that houses three ministries was the target of the second drone strike in as many days. The most recent drone assault on Russia’s capital was ascribed to Ukraine and described as a “terrorist attack” by Russia. Mykhailo Podolyak, the presidential adviser for Ukraine, made a covert remark at the same time without taking any type of responsibility for what happened.

In a mysterious post on microblogging service X (formerly known as Twitter), he said that Moscow was “quickly becoming accustomed to a full-fledged war.” He warned that “more unidentified drones, more collapse, more civil conflicts, and more war” could be expected in Russia.

The “IQ quarter” structure, which was hit, is home to the ministries of industry and commerce, digital ministry, and economic development. The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that it had stopped the “attempted terrorist attack” and shot down two drones west of Moscow’s downtown.

According to the report, a second attempt was stopped by jamming tools before it “out of control” and crashed into buildings in the Moskva-Citi commercial sector. Sergei Sobyanin, the mayor of Moscow, said it struck the same skyscraper as on Sunday. The 21st floor’s façade has been harmed. Over 150 square meters of glazing were damaged, he said.

In the course of its “special military campaign” in Ukraine, Russia has allegedly seen a number of Ukrainian drone strikes on its diplomatic and military sites. The Engels airfield was allegedly the target of one of the first attacks in December.

The airfield is located deep within of Russia and is home to strategic nuclear bomber aircraft. The attack is said to have damaged two Tu-95 special missile carriers.

Earlier this year, information on one of the most noteworthy recent drone attacks in Moscow became public. Several images that appeared on Russian social media in May showed two alleged drones flying toward the Kremlin’s Senate building’s dome before an explosion occurred just above the building. Vladimir Putin was the target of the attack, according to Moscow.
