The “woefully out-of-date” immigration system in the US has been requested to be updated

The Biden administration has requested that the egregiously antiquated immigration system be updated, the White House said on Monday.

“This is an antiquated immigration system, as we have said again. The Congress has been tasked with updating our egregiously out-of-date immigration system. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters at her daily news conference that “we have been very clear on that, including, including the temporary visa programmes that haven’t been updated in more than two decades.”

Workers on certain temporary visas typically have 60 days to find new job, apply for a change visa category, or make travel arrangements to leave the United States under existing laws.

Therefore, she continued, “Congress has to do its duty and approve legislation modernizing our immigration rules to reflect the requirements of where we are, where we are today in this 21st century economy.

President Joe Biden introduced immigration reform legislation on his first day in office because he takes this issue seriously, according to the White House Press Secretary.

Because “this is such a broken system,” Jean-Pierre responded to a query, he wanted to make sure it was the first piece of legislation he proposed on Day One.
