500 rounds of fire were fired in 2005 when Mukhtar Ansari’s group used six AK-47s to assassinate BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai

The former criminal turned politician, Mukhtar Ansari, passed away on Thursday night after a heart attack. The mobster was incarcerated in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda Prison, where he was serving several life sentences.

Mukhtar Ansari was found guilty of a number of offences, and on April 29, 2023, the Ghazipur MP/MLA court sentenced him to ten years in jail for the November 29, 2005, assassination of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai.

Krishnanand Rai: Who was he?
After winning the Mohammadabad seat in Uttar Pradesh during the 2002 Assembly election, Krishnanand Rai became a BJP MLA.

But things didn’t go well for Krishnanand when he won the Mohammadabad seat against Mukhtar Ansari and his older brother, BSP leader Afzal Ansari.

In November 2005, Ansari’s group assaulted Krishnanand Rai’s vehicle close to Basaniya Chatti in Uttar Pradesh, fearing that he would lose his influence in the area.

500 rounds were fired with six AK-47s in use.
Six AK-47 rifles fired almost 500 bullets during the gunfight, resulting in the deaths of Krishnanand Rai and six other people, according to accounts.

Widespread anger against the mobster and the government was sparked by the occurrence.

In 2019, the court exonerated Mukhtar Ansari and his older brother. However, the mobster received a 10-year prison term in 2023 for the murder of Krishnanand Rai.
