Kutch, Gujarat: Magnitude 3-level earthquake

In the early hours of Friday, a magnitude 3-magnitude earthquake struck Gujarat’s Kutch area, although no reports of casualties or property damage were made, according to authorities.

According to them, the tremor’s epicenter was close to the village of Khavda. At 12.16 am, a magnitude 3 earthquake was felt in the Kutch area, with the epicentre 35 km to the north-northwest (NNW) of Khavda. According to Institute of Seismological Research authorities, the earthquake hit at a depth of 10 kilometers.

According to district authorities, there have been no reports of any damage caused by the earthquake.

The Kutch district is situated in an area with a relatively high seismic risk, and little earthquakes often occur there. In January 2001, the region was the scene of a horrific 6.9-magnitude earthquake that claimed more than 20,000 lives.
