Odisha: Engineering colleges’ recruitment policies are changing

The state government updated the guidelines for assistant professor appointments at government engineering institutions.

The “Recruitment of Teachers of Government Engineering Colleges of the State Rules, 2023” have been amended for this reason, and prospective applicants must now take a 200-point written test to be considered for the positions. The department of Skill Development & Technical Education alerted me of this on Tuesday.

The Odisha Public Service Commission will choose assistant professors from among eligible applicants. According to the announcement, applicants would need to show up for a 200-mark multiple-choice written test and a 25-mark viva voce. There will be one hundred questions with two marks each. Every incorrect response will result in a 0.25 deduction from the score.

The “Recruitment of Teachers of Government Engineering Colleges of the State Rules, 2023” regulations from earlier in the year required applicants to appear for 100 multiple-choice questions, with one mark assigned to each question. The directive said that the written test’s course shall follow the GATE syllabus for engineers and the NET syllabus for basic science, humanities, management, and MCA.
