UPSC Postpones Civil Service Preliminary Exam in 2024 Owing to General Elections

Because of the general elections, the Union Public Service Commission, or UPSC, has decided to postpone the civil service preliminary test for 2024. The test originally planned for May 26 has been rescheduled for June 16. Applicants who have submitted an application for the test may see the official announcement on the upsc.gov.in website. In the meantime, on April 19, the 18th Lok Sabha general election will take place.

The official announcement states, “Due to the schedule of the impending general election, the Commission has decided to postpone the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2024 from May 26 to June 16, 2024, which also serves as a screening test for the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2024.”

By means of the hiring campaign, the commission hopes to fill around 1056 positions. There are 40 positions set aside for individuals with benchmark disability categories. These include 6 positions for candidates with blindness and low vision, 12 positions for those who are deaf and hard of hearing, 9 positions for those with locomotor disabilities, such as cerebral palsy, leprosy that has been cured, dwarfism, victims of acid attacks, and muscular dystrophy, and 13 positions for individuals with multiple disabilities, including deaf-blindness.

Step 2: Search the webpage for the UPSC CSE 2024 notice link.

Step 3: Press the hyperlink. The updated date for the preliminary test will appear as a PDF file on the screen.

Step 4: Save and download the page for later use.

On February 14, the UPSC released the official announcement for the Civil Service Examination (CSE) 2024. Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or have an equivalent qualification in order to be eligible to appear for the UPSC test. Additionally, they have to be in the age range of 21 to 32.

There are just objective questions in the preliminary exam. According to the exam format, the UPSC Prelims Paper 1 is devoted to General Studies 1, for which candidates must cover a wide range of subjects, including general science, national and international relations, Indian history, the Indian National Movement, India’s social geography, politics, and governance, which includes the country’s constitution, political system, and public policy, as well as economic and social development that touches on poverty and environmental studies that cover biodiversity and climate change.
