350 vehicles at the Ola Dump Yard are submerged by the overflowing Hindon

According to authorities, about 350 automobiles belonging to the online taxi aggregator Ola that were parked at a trash yard in Greater Noida were flooded when water from the swelling Hindon river overflowed into the low-lying region.

Ola could not be reached right away by PTI for comment, but according to the police, the dump yard is situated in the floodplains of the Old Sutiyana hamlet near Ecotech 3. Additionally, images and videos of the dump yard appeared online, allegedly showing hundreds of automobiles buried in floodwater.

“Ola’s automobile is being dumped in the village. In this yard are housed the automobiles that were retrieved from the COVID-19 epidemic or the damaged vehicles. There are around 350 of these cars. It was erected on property owned by Satpal. The waste yard has a perimeter wall surrounding it, and Dinesh Yadav, who was present at the scene, looks after it, according to a statement from the police.

These automobiles are presently parked at the waste yard, the caretaker told the cops. The police gave a warning to leave the yard due to the increasing water level of the Hindon river, and the high-level management of Ola was alerted about water filling in the trash yard, they said.

According to the police, Ola authorities have been called to discuss next steps in relation to the flooded waste yard. In the floodplains of the Hindon, hundreds of people have reportedly been affected by the overflowing river and relocated to shelter houses, according to district administration authorities.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Anil Kumar Yadav, Additional District Magistrate Atul Kumar, and District Magistrate Manish Verma visited shelter houses in Chhijarsi, Chotpur, and Haibatpur to assess the situation. Pankaj Singh, a Noida MLA, also went to the affected areas and spoke with residents and government representatives.

The district administration has urged those who live in low-lying regions close to the Hindon river to leave or find refuge, stating that the government is providing all available assistance to those who are affected.
