6,000 Security Personnel Lost Their Lives in Militancy Incidents in J&K, According to DGP

R R Swain, the Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir, said on Tuesday that over 1,600 of the approximately 6,000 security personnel who have lost their lives while doing their duties as a result of militancy-related events are J&K Police officers.

Speaking at the 12th Martyrs’ Memorial Cricket Tournament ending ceremony in the Kathua area, Sawin remarked that this demonstrated the J&K Police’s dedication to preserving the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.

“More than 6,000 courageous individuals from various national forces have given their lives, with more than 1,600 of them coming from the J&K Police alone,” he said.

Upon reaching the event location, the DGP honored the slain J&K Police heroes by placing wreaths at the martyrs’ gallery. He also praised the sponsors and the management committee for their contributions to the tournament’s success. Swain conveyed his appreciation to the Kathua community for their enthusiastic involvement in honoring and paying homage to the martyrs.

The DGP emphasized the welfare programs for the families of J&K Police martyrs and said that they are supported by the Police Contributory Fund in remarks to the journalists gathered for the function.

During his speech at the occasion, ADGP Anand Jain said that as part of the Sevara program, the J&K Police had been visiting martyr families to listen to their concerns and provide assistance.
