accusations made against Atiq Ahmad’s murders and his brother Ashraf

Three people have been charged by the Court of Additional Sessions Judge with the murders of deceased gangster Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf.

Three of the accused, who are now being held in Chitrakoot prison, appeared in court via video conference.

Judge Dinesh Gautam of the Additional Sessions set May 2 for the recording of evidence after the charges were framed.

Gulab Chandra Agrahri, the district government attorney (criminal), represented the prosecution.

On July 13, 2023, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) filed a charge sheet against three attackers, alleging that on April 15, 2023, they had shot and killed Atiq Ahmad, a mobster who had now become a politician, and Ashraf.

The charge sheet was produced against Lavlesh Tiwari, 22, Mohit Singh, also known as Shani, 23, and Arun Maurya, 18.

After concluding its investigation under Section 302 (murder) and various other sections of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act, the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which was formed to look into this murder case, presented a charge sheet before the Chief Judicial Magistrate.

The SIT team had questioned the three during a police detention period about the killings of Atiq and Ashraf in an effort to gather as much evidence as possible.

The boys were being escorted to Colvin hospital in Prayagraj for a medical checkup as required by law on April 15th, when the three accused reportedly shot and killed them.
