“Actors who work for the welfare of the people will not enter politics.”

Salem: Actor Vishal said on Monday that if the government really cares about the welfare of its citizens, then performers would not get into politics.

Vishal also said that he planned to run for office in 2026. But he didn’t say how many seats he wanted to run for or what kind of coalitions he may form. In the city, the actor said, “I intend to establish a party which focuses on serving the public.”

He did not criticize the DMK or AIADMK, two Dravidian parties, but he did stress that basic human needs must be met, particularly in rural areas where he claimed government schemes are not reaching their intended beneficiaries.
In response to rumors that the late actor-turned-politician Vijayakanth will be honored with a new name for the “Nadigar Sangam,” Vishal said that a decision on the matter would be taken at the general body meeting after consultation with senior association members.
