Kerala: KSRTC driver may file a lawsuit when the police don’t respond to his complaint

KSRTC driver L H Yedu threatened to take legal action against the police’s inaction after they refused to investigate the charge that Mayor Arya Rajendran and her husband, K M Sachin Dev, MLA, had blocked the road.

The bus service was cut short and the passengers suffered as a consequence, according to the driver, who said that the mayor and her husband had obstructed the vehicle.

Yedu said that the police had ignored his first complaints against the mayor and her husband. He said that the police had leaked his complaint to a third party over the phone and that they intended to use it to refute the mayor’s complaint.

In addition, he said that the police ignored two of his complaints and that, in an effort to shield the mayor and her husband, they launched a case against two unidentified persons when the situation became contentious.

The mayor and her husband halted the KSRTC bus on Saturday night, claiming that the driver had refused to allow them pass and had made lewd gestures at the female passengers, including Arya. According to Arya, they didn’t stop the bus; rather, they approached the driver when the vehicle stopped at a light.

The KSRTC bus was being blocked by the automobile that the mayor and her family were riding in, which was stopped on the zebra crossing across the street, according to the CCTV footage. Yedu then insisted on filing a complaint against the mayor and the MLA.

The bus service was cancelled after Yedu committed an offense against the lady, according to the police, who declined to take any further action. According to the police, the driver was placed under arrest after the receipt of a complaint, necessitating the cancellation of the remaining portion of the journey.

The KSRTC’s opposing service unions, meanwhile, demonstrated against the management’s choice to keep Yedu off the job. They marched in protest to the KSRTC Chief Office, claiming the mayor and the MLA followed conflicting sets of regulations.

Cong relocates SHRC

In a potentially explosive exchange between the mayor and the KSRTC driver, Congress has applied to the State Human Rights Commission to file a complaint against Mayor Arya Rajendran and her spouse, MLA Sachin Dev. According to the allegation, Arya and Sachin hindered the bus passengers’ travel, according to KPCC secretary C R Pranakumar. The freedom to travel is guaranteed by the Constitution, he added. The complaint said that this would convey the wrong message to society and that “the mayor and the MLA stopped their car in front of the KSRTC bus carrying many passengers at Palayam and obstructed their journey.”
