Arunachal Pradesh Assembly Polls: 10 Candidates Will Win Without Opposition; Voting for 60 Seats on April 19

In addition to Lok Sabha polls, four states across the nation have heard the horn of the upcoming Assembly elections. On April 19, elections are scheduled to take place in up to 60 Arunachal Pradesh seats. Here, the first round of the Lok Sabha votes will coincide with the assembly polls.

To everyone’s amazement, the BJP won ten state seats without the need for voting. CM Pema Khandu and deputy CM Chowna Mein are among the winners.

Since no one else submitted a candidacy, CM Khandu, who stood for the Mukto seat, won without a runoff. The remaining nine seats have also been won by BJP candidates.

Following the deadline for nomination withdrawals, Khandu and nine other candidates were elected without opposition, according to Chief Electoral Officer Pawan Kumar Sen. According to him, candidates in four assembly seats withdrew their papers, while one nomination document was submitted in six constituencies. “Single nomination paper has been filed in six assembly constituencies while in four others, opposition candidates withdrew their papers,” added the politician.

Khandu, an MLA from Mukto, which is located close to the border between China and India, is serving his fourth term in office. Following the death of his father Dorjee Khandu in a helicopter accident, he was elected from this seat without facing any opposition on the Congress platform.

Along with the chief minister and deputy chief minister, other candidates who were elected without opposition were Nyato Rigia from Taliha, Jikke Tako from Tali seat, Dongru Siongju from Bomdila, Ratu Techi from Sagalee, Mutchu Mithi from Roing, Dasanglu Pul from Hayuliang, and Hage Appa from Ziro–Hapoli.
