Cong leaders want MLC and cabinet positions despite electoral setback

Senior Congressmen who ran unopposed in the most recent Assembly elections are now vying for MLC positions. Even the party is being asked by a few of them to make room for them in the Cabinet. A number of well-known figures, including Madhu Yaskhi Goud, the head of the TPCC campaign committee, T Jayaprakash Reddy, also known as Jagga Reddy, Podem Veeraiah, Md. Ali Shabbir, SA Sampath, and Ramreddy Damodar Reddy, are among those who have run unsuccessfully in the elections.

Due to their long-standing commitment and contributions to the party, the majority of these leaders are requesting to be appointed to ministerial positions. In a letter to both the chief minister, A Revanth Reddy, and the party high command, Veeraiah claimed that after 12 Congress MLAs joined the BRS, he was approached by then chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who offered him a Cabinet position in the government and Rs 50 crore, but he declined, preferring to stay with the historic party. Additionally, he said that in 2018, despite being the current Mulugu MLA, he gave up the seat to Dansari Anasuya, also known as Seethakka.

He wrote, “Given that I have devoted my entire life to the party, I ask that you please consider my loyalty, commitment, and dedication to the party when considering my application for an MLC post and also provide me with an opportunity to serve in the Cabinet.”

Podem Veeraiah said that KCR offered him `50 crore and a Cabinet place in the administration after 12 Congress MLAs defected to the BRS, but he choose to stay faithful to the venerable party.
