Congress will face the BJP in Jammu, with Rahul and Priyanka spearheading the campaign

The contest for Jammu and Kashmir’s two most important seats, Udhampur-Kathua and Jammu-Reasi, is narrowing down to those two seats. The Congress refuses to back down in the face of the BJP’s aggressive campaign. The party has assembled formidable figures, including as Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, to spearhead its campaign in the next Lok Sabha elections, with the promise of a fierce opposition.

A list of 27 well-known candidates was presented by the Congress party on Saturday. Leading figures to campaign in Jammu include Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, Sachin Pilot, Ambika Soni, and Sonia Gandhi.

Jammu and Kashmir had six Lok Sabha seats. The BJP won two seats in Jammu and one in Ladakh, while the National Conference secured three seats in Kashmir in the 2014 general elections.

Article 370 was repealed, J&K was divided, and 2022 boundaries were established. As a result, J&K now has five Lok Sabha seats: Udhampur-Doda, Jammu-Reasi, Srinagar, Baramulla, and Anantnag-Poonch-Rajouri.

The Congress has named former minister and working president of the J&K unit Raman Bhalla, while the BJP has declared incumbent MP Jugal Kishore Sharma as their candidate for the Jammu-Reasi constituency.

It is expected that the active participation of prominent political figures from the National Conference, such as Omar and Dr. Farooq Abdullah, would greatly improve Congress’s chances of winning elections, especially when it comes to galvanizing support for Raman Bhalla in the area.
