DCA conducts many raids and confiscates narcotics

Hyderabad: A number of searches were carried out by the Telangana State Drugs Control Administration (DCA) in different districts of the State. Drugs made unlawfully, goods with bogus claims, and falsely advertised food products, nutraceuticals, and other items with deceptive ads were all seized as a consequence of these searches.

‘Oxifer-XT tablets’ (ferrous ascorbate, folic acid, and zinc tablets) in Alwal, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, and ‘Nurovis-LC tablets’ (l-carnitine l-tartrate, methylcobalamin, and folic acid tablets) in Lakshmakkapally village, Siddipet district were found by officials during raids on Thursday and Friday, according to DCA. These goods were produced fraudulently under a food license and presented as nutritional supplements or food items.

According to the authorities, the medications were made at several locations in the Medchal-Malkajgiri area and were misrepresented as food items even though they needed to be licensed as pharmaceuticals. The Drugs and Cosmetics Act violations led to the seizure of these items. Additionally, they cited other incidents in which similar scenarios were discovered, with some items being deemed bogus as they lacked active components.

DCA agents targeted pharmaceuticals that misrepresented their effectiveness in treating certain medical ailments during a further round of searches. Vat Rakshas Ras pills, which claimed to cure radio-ulnar neuritis, lockjaw, and paralysis, and Pathachatadi (Stone Cracker), which supposed to heal kidney stones, were among the confiscated goods. The Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act of 1954 is violated by these assertions. Additionally, the investigators raided clinics in the districts of Hyderabad and Rangareddy that were run by quacks or unlicensed practitioners. The searches turned up large amounts of pharmaceuticals, including antibiotics and other allopathic medications, that were stockpiled for sale without the required authorization.
