Fallout from Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest: Will Punjab’s excise laws be affected by the Delhi liquor case?

The Delhi Excise case cast a shadow on Punjab’s excise policies as well, prompting Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Cheema to declare himself prepared to face any investigation. “It is a good policy; in just two years, our excise duty revenue has increased by Rs 4,000 crore.” We have successfully eliminated the state’s alcohol mafia,” he said.

Malvinder Singh Kang, the main spokesman for the AAP, declared: “The party will not bow before the BJP’s dictatorship.”

“You arrest one Kejriwal, and several others will emerge to replace him and attack the politics, policies, and platform of the Bharatiya Janata Party,” he said.

Along with the chief minister of Punjab, three other ministers are in Delhi to protest against Kejriwal’s arrest: Aman Arora, Dr. Balbir Singh, and Harjot Bains.

Sunil Jakhar, the head of the Punjab BJP, said earlier today that a party team will contact the Election Commission and request an ED investigation into the state’s excise policy, which he claimed was modeled after the one in Delhi.

“For the (Delhi) excise policy that Kejriwal had to see to this day, the same model has been replicated by their government in Punjab,” Jakhar said to reporters here.

According to Jakhar, a powerful BJP team would visit Election Commission officials on Saturday to request an ED investigation.

In Punjab, Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann have imposed the same excise policy that has resulted in the imprisonment of several ministers from Delhi.

According to Jakhar, this indicates that the AAP supremo does not have faith in the party’s leaders and that the group is “power hungry.”

The ED detained AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday in connection with an excise policy issue.
