Five Years After Being ‘Reported’ Dead in a UP Village, Delhi Man Discovered Living with His Second Wife and Four Kids

In an odd event from Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, a 45-year-old man who had vanished and was thought to be dead almost five years ago was discovered alive in Delhi.

According to a Times of India article, the guy, named as Yogendra Kumar, lived with a lady and four children in Singhawali Ahir in Baghpat and was employed as a cab driver.

According to the police, a villager named Ved Prakash filed a criminal complaint against Kumar and his siblings back in 2018 after a fight that left the former missing.

“Kumar was booked under IPC sections 325 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation), after which he went missing,” said Jitendra Singh, Singhawali Ahir’s SHO, in an interview with TOI.

The SHO said that since Prakash was suspected of murdering Kumar, Kumar’s family requested that a police case be filed against him.

In accordance with a court decision, Prakash and two other people were the subject of a formal complaint filed in April 2023 under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 364 (kidnapping). Despite an eight-month investigation, the police were unable to uncover any conclusive evidence linking Kumar to his death.

On Sunday, the Baghpat police said that they had tracked Kumar down in Delhi when he appeared in court to get the outstanding bail. “He was working as a taxi driver and retained his identity,” the SHO said. He had four children with a different lady he had married.

SHO Singh told TOI that during interrogation, Kumar discussed his rivalry with Prakash as well as his extramarital involvement with a lady from Rohini, Delhi.

Kumar further revealed to the police that he moved out of his house and began living with the lady in Delhi in 2018. His relatives in UP, however, believed he had been murdered after being abducted.

Speaking about the event, Baghpat-based Kumar’s wife said, “He hasn’t spoken to any of us or visited us since 2018.” We have always wished for the cops to discover the truth.
