Gold seized in MIA valued at ₹54.3L

Mangaluru/Udupi: Gold of 24-carat purity weighing 750g (net) and valued at Rs 54.3 lakh was taken from a passenger coming from Dammam by customs detectives at Mangaluru International Airport. Authorities said that on Saturday, they apprehended a passenger coming from Dammam on Air India Express flight IX 886 after conducting on-the-spot profiling and seeing suspicious activity.

When the passenger, who was from Dakshina Kannada, was questioned, it was discovered that he had three oval-shaped items in his rectum that were hidden there and contained gold paste weighing 825g (gross). Following extraction, 750g (net) of 24-carat pure gold, valued at Rs 54.3 lakh, was found and taken into custody. After being detained, the passenger appeared before a judge.

A fisherman passes away.
On Saturday, while fishing, a fisherman unintentionally fell off the boat and perished. This 40-year-old woman is Narayana. The event happened when the fisherman stumbled, according to the police, when he was apparently tugging on the fishing net. At the Malpe police station, an unnatural death report has been submitted.

One person died in an accident.
The SUV they were traveling in flipped a turtle and plunged into a drain at Guddeyangadi on Bidkalkatte-Hunsemakki road in Kota police station boundaries on Saturday, resulting in one fatality and five injuries. The pedestrian was struck by two-wheeler rider Poornaprajna, who the police claim was riding carelessly, and both of them fell to the ground. Sanjeeva was taken to the hospital after suffering serious head injuries, but he passed away. Under IPC Sections 279, 337, and 304 (a), a case has been filed.

driver of an autorickshaw murdered
In Puttur on Saturday, an autorickshaw driver lost his life in an accident involving a KSRTC bus and an autorickshaw. Jason Tellis Mallar was a dead person. The KSRTC bus was traveling from Madikeri to Puttur when it was reportedly struck by an autorickshaw near Kemmadi in Aryapu, according to the police. The driver of the autorickshaw passed away instantly, and the vehicle was entirely destroyed from the front. As he was on his way back from election duty, the bus driver who made the complaint was by himself. He claimed that the collision was caused by the autorickshaw driver. The Puttur Rural Police Station maintains a case file.
