Health Minister orders investigation and talks with family of Patiala child who died after eating cake

A day after Manvi, a 10-year-old girl, died and three bakery workers were taken into custody by the police, Health Minister Balbir Singh addressed the family today and promised them every ounce of support. The minister expressed his astonishment upon learning about the unfortunate tragedy in an interview with The Tribune.

“I’ve talked with the Health Secretary and ordered an investigation into the situation. The AAP candidate from Patiala, Dr. Balbir Singh, said, “The case will be looked at from every angle and anyone accountable for the negligence will not be spared.” It’s not a little problem. After eating her birthday cake, a 10-year-old child passed quite quickly. Dr. Balbir Singh stated, “I conveyed my sympathies to the family and promised to help in any way I could.

Following receipt of the complaint, four samples were taken from the bakery by District Health Officer (DHO) Vijay Kumar, who said that the issue was being looked into.

When asked if the owner of the bakery was abiding by the rules set forth by the Food Safety Standards Authority of India, Dr. Vijay replied that it was unclear at this time because the owner of the bakery unit had vanished and it had been discovered during a preliminary investigation that the bakery was operating without a licence and registered as a small vendor.

The Health Department has been criticized by the family. The victim’s mother, Kajal, said that Manvi’s cake sample was not collected by the department. According to Kajal, “even the police collected the sample in an open packet in a callous manner.”

The victim Manvi’s (10 years old) family purchased a cake online to commemorate their daughter’s birthday on March 24, the day of the event.

The victim’s maternal grandfather, Harbans Lal, said that five family members had consumed the cake. He said that Manvi and her younger sister were sick when they were uneasy and experiencing nausea. Manvi passed away, but her younger sister lived.

Three people have been detained in connection with a complaint filed under Sections 273 and 304-A of the IPC against the Kahna Bakery store, which is situated on Peeli Sadak Road in Adalat Bazar. Today, Vijay Kumar, Pawan Mishra, Ranjeet, and Green View Colony’s Gurmeet Singh were booked. On Sunday, three employees of a bakery were detained, brought before the court, and placed under police detention. The proprietor of the bakery, Gurmeet, is still at large, however.
