Heatstroke online reporting is launched by the health department

Mangaluru: In an effort to collect data on those impacted by the rising temperatures, the Dakshina Kannada health department has launched an online monitoring system.

All hospitals have been directed to report instances of heatstroke and other associated concerns on a daily basis, DHO Dr. HR Thimmaiah informed TOI. The government is keeping an eye on things because of the district’s growing temperature, even if there haven’t been any instances recorded in recent weeks.

“Every hospital in the district has been given a link to a Google spreadsheet, and we have instructed them to record any instances of heatstroke that are reported.

Every day, we have kept an eye on the spreadsheet. Thankfully, there haven’t been any cases of heatstroke despite an increase in humidity, the man said.

The agency stationed medical personnel close to voting places during the Lok Sabha election to provide assistance in the event of an emergency. The medical crew attended to a lady who had become dehydrated at a voting place close to Lady Hill in the capital. In addition to this, he claimed, no additional occurrences of a comparable kind were recorded throughout the election. In addition, the DHO cautioned individuals to exercise particular caution as the temperature rises. He issued a warning to the public about the symptoms of heatstroke, which include heat exhaustion, heat rash, heat edema, cramps, and heat tetany. He said that people should avoid working in the direct sun and should hydrate themselves by consuming extra water.

A five-day heatwave is predicted between April 28 and May 2, according to information provided on X by the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (@KarnatakaSNDMC) on Sunday. According to KSNDMC, which cited the IMD, “heatwaves to severe heatwaves are likely to prevail in interior parts of Karnataka (#OrangeAlert Issued) and hot & humid conditions are likely to prevail in coastal Karnataka.”
