High-end vehicle theft syndicate exposed

Lovely Singh (37), the mysterious matriarch of a criminal empire based on the wheels of high-end automobiles, has been taken into custody by the Delhi Police in the murky world of stolen vehicles.

Lovely Singh, a native of Khagaria, Bihar, had a job in an insurance business and a BSc degree before her path to notoriety started. Lovely Singh, who once resided in Bihar with her four children, had other ideas, however.

According to police authorities, she first made contact with those engaged in the sale and purchase of stolen cars at the insurance office.

Apoorva Gupta, the deputy commissioner of police for the East District, said, “She and her husband, Govind, began engaging in the sale and purchase of stolen vehicles, encouraged by them.”

According to the police, Lovely said that she was detained in Ranchi, Jharkhand, in 2021 on suspicion of stealing cars and robbing people.

Authorities said that her need for quick money drove her into the dark world of auto theft and reselling.

The DCP said that after her detention in Jharkhand, she changed the places she was renting in Bihar and moved into well-known communities to avoid drawing attention to herself. “In order to meet her daily needs and make easy money, she also made connections with auto lifters and other recipients of stolen luxury cars, engaging in the purchase and sale of such vehicles,” the official added.

According to the police, she would steal cars from Delhi’s busy streets and vanish into the maze-like, dark markets.

“They functioned like a well-oiled machine, with a network of accomplices and receivers dispersed throughout Bihar and Jharkhand,” they said.

On March 18, of last year, the police received a report about the theft of a Brezza automobile. The automobile was purportedly taken from the main road in Trilokpuri’s DDA Market by the complainant. Authorities said that the accused Govind was taken into custody by the police in August in Khagadiya, Bihar. He said that his spouse Lovely Singh and her son Ankit Raj were the owners of the Brezza.

Later on, co-accused Ankit Raj was taken into custody by the police. According to what they discovered, Lovely Singh had obtained many expensive automobiles that were stolen from Delhi and had subsequently sold or given them to people in Bihar and Jharkhan, an officer said.

Lovely Singh was evading the police, despite their best attempts, and in December of last year, a non-bailable warrant was issued in her name.

Lovely was taken into custody from the Patliputra district of Bihar on April 3 and placed under transit remand, according to the police, who conducted this after reviewing phone data records and local intelligence.

She further said that she had bought many four-wheelers from Delhi that were stolen. Nine automobiles total—three Hyundai Cretas, two Maruti Brezzas, two Hyundai Alcazars, one Toyota Fortuner, and one Hyundai i20—were found by the police.
