Himachal: After meeting with the Panchayati Raj Minister, Zila Parishad employees put off their 22-day protest

After meeting with Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh on Saturday, Shimla’s Zila Parishad workers ended their 22-day walkout.
Officers and staff from the Zilla Parishad went on strike in protest at not being given the benefits of the Sixth Pay Commission and calling for their integration into the Panchayati Raj Department.

Following a discussion with the relevant minister, all of the workers and officials agreed to end the strike and start working again on Monday.

A group from the Zilla Parishad Employees Federation met with the Panchayati Raj Minister on Saturday. On the basis of the government’s pledge, the workers agreed to end the protest after the meeting, which lasted roughly an hour.

The workers chose to return to work on Monday after being guaranteed that their requests will be met gradually, the minister told reporters following the meeting.

He also said that the termination notices sent to the protesting Zilla Parishad workers will be removed.

Zilla Parishad Employees Federation state president Rajesh Thakur said, “I decided to call off the strike after meeting the Panchayati Raj Minister. Beginning on Monday, all staff would report to work again.

He said that the minister gave them the assurance that their request to be integrated into the department would be satisfied prior to the budget.

The Panchayati Raj Minister will serve as the meeting’s chair on October 30 at the State Secretariat. The conference would also include representatives from the department and workers from the federation.

The departmental merging of personnel will be on the meeting’s agenda.

“The striking Zilla Parishad workers have called off their strike in protest. They received assurances that the government will gradually fulfill all of their requests, the minister added.
