IT raids in West Bengal at the home of an ex-TMC MLA and other locations

Several businesspeople, including a former MLA of the governing Trinamool Congress, had their homes searched by Income Tax investigators on Wednesday morning in different locations in West Bengal, an officer said.

According to the officer, the businesses in Asansol, Durgapur, and Raniganj regions did not pay taxes for a number of years, which is why the searches were carried out.

“After arriving in Durgapur yesterday, our officers began examining these businessmen’s homes early on Wednesday morning.

He said, “They are searching for a variety of papers, such as bank statements and other property information.

According to the officer, I-T department officials are also in discussions with Sohrab Ali, a former TMC MLA, and the other businesspeople whose homes are being searched.

Outside the location where the search was conducted, a sizable contingent of central force officers is on duty.
