Jharkhand: Passenger Bus Falls Into River in Giridih, Causing 3 Deaths and 24 Injuries

On Saturday night in Jahrakhnad’s Giridih, a bus transporting passengers plunged into a river from a bridge, killing three people and wounding 24 others.

According to reports, the bus was traveling from Ranchi to Giridih when it was involved in an accident around 8:40 p.m. on Giridih Dumri Road. The Barakar River was entered by the bus.

Anil Kumar, a Giridih Sub-Divisional Police Officer, told PTI that “more details cannot be evaluated at this time because rescue and relief operations are underway.”

Dr. SP Mishra, the civil surgeon for Giridih, informed PTI that “24 people were hurt in the incident, while three people have been declared dead.”

According to Hemant Soren, the chief minister of Jharkhand, the district police and administration are leading the rescue effort.

“Sad news has been received that a bus from Ranchi to Giridih met with an accident in the Barakar river in Giridih, Jharkhand,” Soren said in a tweet in Hindi. The district government is conducting rescue operations…”

Deepak Sharma, the superintendent of police in Giridih, said that he was on the scene supervising the rescue efforts.

The bus’s precise passenger capacity has yet to be determined.
