Kashmir Flash Floods: Travelers Are Aware, Schools Are Closed, and Heavy Rains Will Continue | Images

Srinagar: Flash floods were caused by unceasing rain in a number of North Kashmiri districts, including Handwara and Kupwara. Some places are also seeing conditions similar to flooding after several homes were inundated and roadways were flooded. Reports of a flood-like condition were also received from the Nallah Pharo river’s banks.

Due to the unfavorable weather conditions and the avalanche warning issued by the Jammu and Kashmir State Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA), schools in the Kupwara District were forced to observe a vacation on Monday in order to ensure the safety of the pupils.

To monitor the situation and guarantee the security of the institutional assets of their individual institutions, teaching and non-teaching personnel must attend to their obligations.

Rainfall Will Persist
More rain is expected during the next 24 hours, according to the meteorological agency. The MeT office predicted mostly overcast skies, intermittent hailstorms, gusty winds, and the potential for heavy rain over isolated areas of the Jammu and Kashmir division, especially over the next two days.

Additionally, the MeT office said that there may be light rain and thunder in certain locations on April 30 and that conditions would mostly stay dry from May 1 to May 5.

Public Srinagar district administration released an advisory for tourists, urging people to stay away from these bodies of water and to curtail their activities until the weather improves. This advice is especially for those who live on the left and right banks of the Jhelum River and its tributaries and nallahs.

Before attempting to cross, visitors, native Shikara Wallas, sand miners, and boat ferries in Jhelum and Dal Lake should confirm the state and circumstances of these bodies of water.
