Kejriwal engaging in religious politics: State BJP head

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was accused by Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Thursday of practicing religious politics and of being silent on a number of problems that impact different religious groups.

Sachdeva chastised Kejriwal during a news conference for supposedly putting religious interests ahead of humanitarian ones. He said, “Kejriwal has no human empathy left in him and only wants to engage in religious politics.”

Sachdeva said, “Why has Kejriwal, who spends taxpayers’ money to provide salaries to Muslim clerics, remained silent on priests, granthis, and Christians?” highlighting what he saw as Kejriwal’s selective silence.

He also criticized Kejriwal for not denouncing the crimes committed against Sikh and Hindu women in Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as the latest temple desecration occurrences. He said, “Kejriwal doesn’t even condemn shameful incidents like the recent desecration of temples, let alone speak out against atrocities on Hindu and Sikh women in Pakistan and Afghanistan.”

Sachdeva compared Kejriwal’s rhetoric to that of Asaduddin Owaisi and Mamata Banerjee, two other divisive leaders.

He said that when Kejriwal was Chief Minister, he neglected to address matters that went beyond his own religious convictions.

Furthermore, Sachdeva criticized how public funds were used under Kejriwal’s leadership, stating, “Keriwal has never stood up for priests, pastors, or professors; the taxpayer funds he complains about are used to pay Muslim clerics in Delhi a salary of Rs 42,000. The people of Delhi are curious as to why.

Sachdeva cited the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the BJP platform in response to Kejriwal’s alleged fabrication of facts.

Asking, “Today, if Prime Minister Narendra Modi is fulfilling Nehru’s assurance, then why is Kejriwal in so much pain?” he questioned Kejriwal’s resistance to the CAA’s implementation.
