Kharge responds to HM Amit Shah’s letter with, “PM links us with terrorist organizations”

On Wednesday, Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge responded to a letter from Union Home Minister Amit Shah asking for the opposition parties’ support in a debate on the Manipur issue.

Kharge responded to the letter by stating that the Home Minister’s description of yesterday’s government behavior in Parliament was not accurate. In a letter sent to the leaders of the opposition in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, Amit Shah said that the administration is prepared for a thorough debate.

“The Opposition is requesting a statement on Manipur from the administration. I want to let you know that the administration is prepared for a thorough dialogue, not simply a statement. But for this to work, everyone’s participation is required. Amit Shah said in his letter, “Through you, I urge to the Opposition parties to kindly come forward for a conversation in a civilized setting.

In response, Kharge said on Wednesday that there was a discrepancy between the government’s emotions as conveyed in your letter and its actions. The House has acted with a callous and arbitrary attitude, which is at odds with the spirit of your letter. This mindset is nothing new, and opposition has been present in recent sessions as well.

Kharge also noted the criticism of the opposition’s Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who compared the coalition to terrorist organizations like the Indian Mujahideen and Popular Front of India.

“The home minister sends a letter to the opposition parties asking for their support the day PM Modi connects us to terrorist organizations. Years of distance between the administration and the opposition are being replaced by a split inside the government. It is regrettable that PM Modi described India as being directionless, Kharge remarked in his letter.

A no-confidence resolution against the government was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, the fifth day of the Monsoon session of Congress, on behalf of the opposition parties. Speaker Om Birla has accepted the proposal.

The motion was accepted by the speaker, who added that the debate’s timing will be set later.

Additionally, both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha have been suspended till Wednesday at 2 p.m.
