Mahat Jodo Nyay Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi would bypass western Uttar Pradesh

A party spokesman said on Monday that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has chosen to shorten his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Uttar Pradesh by excluding the western portion of the state and saving five days. The decision was made due to board examinations.

The move came after hints that the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), headed by Samajwadi Party ally Jayant Singh, may collaborate with the BJP before to the Lok Sabha polls.

The length of the yatra in Uttar Pradesh is being shortened in light of the state board exams for Classes 10 and 12, according to a spokesman for the Uttar Pradesh Congress Anshu Awasthi.

Prior to entering Rajasthan, the yatra was originally supposed to stay in Uttar Pradesh from February 16 to February 26. It will now, however, terminate on February 21 and bypass the western UP to reach Madhya Pradesh.

“As a sensitive role model, Rahul Gandhi ji has prioritized the public interest on several occasions. The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will stay in Uttar Pradesh from February 16 to February 21 in consideration of the UP Board exams beginning on February 22,” Awasthi said in a statement released here.

“Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had cancelled his rallies in Bengal out of concern for the people during the COVID-19 period,” stated a spokeswoman.

Awasthi provided some details on the yatra’s itinerary, stating that it would enter Uttar Pradesh on February 16 via Varanasi and arrive in Amethi on February 19 via Bhadohi, Prayagraj, and Pratapgarh.

Gandhi will speak at a public gathering in Gauriganj, the Lok Sabha constituency of Amethi, on February 19. The yatra will continue on to Rae Bareli the next day, before heading towards Lucknow. There, he continued, the marchers, including Gandhi, are probably going to stop for the night.

According to the spokesman, on February 21, the yatra would arrive in Unnao from Lucknow. It will pass via Shuklaganj and Unnao city to reach Kanpur. It would then go via Kanpur and Hamirpur to reach Jhansi, where it will arrive the same day in Madhya Pradesh.

“The change in the itinerary of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is only in view of the UP Board examination,” Awasthi said, refuting the claim that the party has decided to start over and abandon the western UP area due to the RLD’s abrupt and abrupt move toward the BJP.

The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra website states that the hybrid bus and foot march was originally meant to go from Lucknow to Bareilly. After then, it would have traveled via Agra and Aligarh before arriving in Rajasthan.

When asked about Akhilesh Yadav’s planned participation in the yatra, Samajwadi Party leader Awasthi responded to PTI, saying, “SP chief Akhilesh Yadav is likely to join the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Rae Bareli district on February 20 and take part in a road show.”

Yadav got an invitation to participate in the yatra on February 6. Yadav has said that he will participate in the yatra either Raebareli or Amethi.

“(Congress president) Mallikarjun Kharge has sent an invitation to Akhilesh Yadav to participate in Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which begins on February 16 in Uttar Pradesh. Yadav has granted permission to participate in the yatra either Raebareli or Amethi,” the SP said in a statement.

Yadav said that he anticipated the yatra will carry on the SP’s fight for “social justice and mutual harmony” by entering the state and joining its “PDA” strategy.
