‘Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar’ will be released by Amit Shah on Thursday

Tomorrow, as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah will introduce a novel program called “Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar.”

It is a national mission on cultural mapping project of the Ministry of Culture that spans all of India. Shah will present a magnificent projection mapping display at the Qutub Minar to formally introduce the virtual platform. A virtual platform at https://mgmd.gov.in will link users to Indian communities.

In collaboration with the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), the Ministry of Culture launched the “Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar” (MGMD) initiative as part of the National Mission on Cultural Mapping.

The project’s primary goal is to create a comprehensive virtual platform that culturally maps India’s 6.5 lakh villages, which are spread throughout 29 States and 7 Union Territories. People would get the chance to fully experience India’s rich and varied cultural history via MGMD.

The main goal of this initiative is to promote respect for Indian culture and traditions, opening up opportunities for rural areas to thrive economically, socially, and artistically.

Visitors will be given the chance to digitally explore and travel across Indian communities during the launch event. From 11 AM to 10 PM, the exhibition and booths will be available, offering enthralling views of the cultural delights each hamlet has to offer. A Projection Mapping Show on the Qutub Minar, describing various themes of some of India’s hand-selected communities, will also be part of the inaugural event.

The story in the MGMD launch film will be compelling and inspirational, further strengthening the link to cultural origins. A “Samvaad” between participants from various villages and the minister is also a part of the event, providing a special chance to engage with the spirit and soul of Indian communities. RJ Sharat from Radio station Fever- 104.8 FM will preside over this physical Samvaad. The opening ceremony will be wrapped off with a music performance by renowned musicians Javed Ali and Anweshaa.
