Outreach for the PM’s birthday to millions of craftspeople

We have seen individuals working sweatily to create, maintain, and give new forms to the items we need to operate our lives smoothly on street corners, market pavements, and underneath thatched huts. Once our standards are satisfied, we let them go and pay little attention to their daily struggles.

They number in the millions and epitomize atmanirbharta (self-reliance) in its purest form. On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will introduce the “PM Vishwakarma” program, which will help craftsmen improve their abilities while also changing their life with simple finance and marketing assistance. For the program, 18 traditional crafts have been chosen.

They are boat builders, armorers, hammer and took-kit manufacturers, doll and toy makers, potters, sculptor-stone breakers, cobblers, masons, barbers, washermen, tailors, garland makers, fishing net makers, basket/Mat/Broom manufacturers, and coir Weavers.

via free registration via Common Services Centers (CSCs) utilizing the biometric-based PM Vishwakarma portal, they would be able to have their trades and abilities recognized. They will also get ID cards and certificates from PM Vishwakarma. The Prime Minister will introduce the program at the India International conference and Expo Centre, the capital’s most opulent and expansive conference center, which he will open at Dwarka on Sunday morning, to show the Government’s and society’s appreciation for their centuries-old skills. Mr. Modi referred to the traditional craftspeople as “Vishwakarmas.”

The day they get official acknowledgment from the government is none other than Vishwakarma Jayanti, which commemorates the birth and life of the supreme creator of the cosmos. The Prime Minister cares about them on more than simply a technical level; he has a vision to expand the scope and market reach of their goods and services to the point where they can be integrated into national and international value chains.

The Union Government would provide PM Vishwakarma with complete funding. It has been allocated Rs 13,000 crore in funding. They will get basic and advanced instruction for skill upgrading. They will also get a toolbox incentive of Rs 15,000, as well as collateral-free loan assistance up to Rs 1 lakh (first tranche) and Rs 2 lakh (second tranche) at a discounted interest rate of only 5%. Rewards will be granted for online marketing and transactions.

The financial and social support will not only help the artisans continue their family’s “Guru-Shishya” crafts and provide opportunities for traditional self-employment, but it will also inspire them to use their hands and tools to make marvellous and beautiful things.

A mechanism for the digital empowerment and brand promotion of the craftsmen may be developed, as shown by the Prime Minister’s interactions with officials and representatives from many Ministries. Mr. Modi wants the Vishwakarmas to start their own businesses. He has informed the authorities that they want assurances on raw materials, whenever required, as well as the provision of infrastructure to help them sell their goods.
