Owner of a Punjabi dhaba in Assam was chosen for a Khalistani poster

According to a police official, on Monday, a roadside dhaba owner from Punjab was apprehended from the Bongaigaon area of Assam on suspicion of being a supporter of Khalistani.

The individual had a poster of Khalistani idealogue Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and others at his line hotel, which is close to the Gerukabari outpost on the NH-27, according to Bongaigaon SP Mohan Lal Meena.

A picture of Bhindranwale is present. Another picture shows someone holding a banner that resembles a Khalistani flag. We’re looking into that,” he said to PTI.

According to Meena, the individual, identified as Gurmukh Singh from Tarn Taran in Punjab, also had a picture of the late musician Sidhu Moosewala.

He claimed that he was being questioned by police when they pulled him up on Sunday.

“He said he received the photos from several truck drivers. We can’t tell for sure right now, but we think he sympathizes,” the SP said.

Prior to COVID-19, Gurmukh was a truck driver; nevertheless, he started the dhaba during the epidemic.

In our opinion, he displayed these sorts of posters at his dhaba in an attempt to draw in additional truck drivers, many of whom are from Punjab. Meena said, “If not, he would not have acted so foolishly in front of his dhaba.”
