PM Modi virtually launches Adampur Airport’s new terminal

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi essentially opened the airport’s new terminal building.

The much-anticipated return of flights from the airport has been made possible by the inauguration. Doaba’s only and primary airport is called Adampur.

At the inaugural ceremony were Adampur MLA Sukhwinder Kotli, Rajya Sabha MPs Ashok Mittal and Balbir Singh Seechewal, and Union Minister Som Parkash.

Balkar Singh, the state cabinet minister, and Sushil Rinku, the Jalandhar MP, who were scheduled to attend, did not show up.

It was anticipated by senior Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials that flights will resume at the airport by the end of March.

Flights to Delhi, Mumbai, and Jaipur have begun to depart from the airport. But during the epidemic, they came to a standstill.

“We have received proposals from two airlines, Spice Jet and Star India, to resume flights,” said Pushpendra Kumar, the airport director of Adampur.

Resuming flight operations is scheduled for March 23–27. The first plane to arrive at Hindon Airport is anticipated. There are still some procedures to do, but they will be done shortly.

The airlines will operate under the AAI’s Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), providing discounted prices, according to officials. The carriers would restart operations. They did, however, emphasize that commercial airlines may also submit ideas for trips.

Seechewal and Ashok Mittal asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to rename the Adampur airport in Guru Ravidas’ honor at the inaugural ceremony. Kotli also brought up the request. Mittal also pushed for a quicker return of flights and improved road access to the airport.

In the meanwhile, MPs were requested by Union Cabinet Minister Som Parkash to approach the state administration for improved road connection for the Adampur airport.
