PM will go to Bhutan the following week

Next week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to go to Bhutan; this is likely to be his last overseas trip before to the Lok Sabha elections.

According to official sources, the visit is scheduled for March 21–22, they said on Friday.
When Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay met with Mr. Modi here last night, he accepted an offer to visit the neighboring nation. This is Mr. Tobgay’s first international tour since taking office in February 2024, and he is in India on official business.

The advancements in a number of bilateral relationship domains, including as infrastructure development, connectivity, energy, hydropower cooperation, people-to-people interactions, and development cooperation, were assessed by both leaders. They underlined their determination to strengthen the special and exceptional relationship between Bhutan and India.

The visiting prime minister said how much he appreciated India’s assistance in achieving Bhutan’s development goals as a dependable, respected, and trustworthy partner.

Prime Minister Modi has been invited to visit Bhutan next week by PM Tshering Tobgay on behalf of His Majesty the King of Bhutan. “The invitation was accepted by the Prime Minister,” a news release from the government said.
